Hello, again

Crooked Letters, Straight Lines - Jottings from the other side of the pond

When I first came to Japan in my senior year in high school, I’d never thought that I would be spending my adult life here in Japan. It has been a long and interesting journey.

As you may have read in the welcome page, I have seen Japan go through a lot of changes. But one thing that hasn’t changed is how both Japanese and non-Japanese view each other. Sometimes our perceptions of each other are spot on; other times, they are not even close. It was one of the reasons why I started TTi. I wanted to help change these erroneous perceptions whether through translations or data searches.

TTi started in October of 1988 as a provider of translation and data searching services. Since then, we have helped both companies and individuals handle the “information gap” between Japan and the rest of the world.

Due to our use of telecommunications and computers for our work, we naturally became interested in the internet. Besides using the latest technologies to manage projects more efficiently amongst various people and groups worldwide, we’ve also moved our office from the physical world to the virtual world. Now, it is not necessary anymore for me or my staff to physically show up somewhere to do our work. I can now work literally in my pajamas from anywhere in the world. This has been a great improvement in productivity and the rationalizing of costs.

Though the bulk of our work is translations and data searches, we have diversified to make use of our numerous contacts gained over the years. Consequently, we have re-defined ourselves as a global “consulting” company for creating strategic alliances with individuals and companies. Stay tuned. The journey continues.
